What To Do In Dakhla? Activities And Excursions Not To Be Missed
Want to discover Dakhla? There are a thousand and one ways to do so.
Dakhla is a town located in southern Morocco, formerly called Villa Cisneros in homage to Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros.
Under the current Moroccan administration, it is the capital of the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and the province of Oued Ed-Dahab.
The city is known above all for its tourism facilities and since 2014 it has been ranked as the world's leading water sports spot.
The region, appreciated for its mild climate and the marriage of sea and desert, welcomes thousands of motorhome owners from all over Europe every winter.
The city is developing apace in terms of tourism, especially thanks to the appearance of quality hotels and surf camps in the city of Dakhla.

The beaches of Dakhla :
Hundreds of kilometres of deserted beaches from the north to the south of Dakhla are awaiting discovery! Start with a short sea walk and meet dolphins and sea turtles!
On the ocean side, discover Foum el Bouir, the surfers' beach. Close to the city (about 6 km), it is also a lovely place to walk in. Not far away, take a trip to Dragon Point. The place is known to sportsmen and women from all over the world for the well-known Dakhla Attitude water sports centre.
Further south, don't miss Puertito beach, a superb stretch of white sand, and Porto Rico beach, ideal for a Saharan bivouac.

Dragon Island :
Explore Herné Island (Dragon Island), one of the many geological sights to visit in Dakhla. Accessible on foot at low tide, you will find curious specimens of shellfish there.

The White Dune :
On the road to Mauritania, 30 km from Dakhla, discover the white dune, an amazing natural phenomenon in the middle of a lagoon. This wilderness site is also a favourite spot for flamingos.
Opt for a 4X4 safari. After 20 minutes on a track along the bay, you will discover breath-taking landscapes.

Then visit Majdouline Island, catch shellfish and recharge your batteries by taking a white clay bath.

Practical Information :
The weather is mild all year round with a good amount of sunshine, temperatures vary between 20° and 30°C during the day. The wind, which blows in all seasons, is moderate, pleasant and refreshing. It encourages the passage of fish near the coast and delights lovers of windsurfing.
