ABOUT NADOR
Want to discover Nador? There are a thousand and one ways to do so. An ancient city well known for its historic monuments and the passing of several civilizations such as Amazigh, Phoenician, Carthaginian and Roman.
This region is currently experiencing a bright economic boom. Nador is the second banking centre of Morocco after Casablanca, this is explained by the large number of M.R.A. (Moroccans Resident Abroad).
Nador is a Mediterranean city in north-eastern Morocco located in the Rif region, its population is estimated at 127,387.
Nador is located 75km from Algeria to the east. Nador and its suburbs represent the largest economic area in north-eastern Morocco. Its international airport, Nador Aroui, is the largest in the region, now surpassing Oujda airport in terms of traffic. In addition, the Mar Chica seaside resort is expected to be the largest in Morocco.
Nador has great seaside resorts with beautiful beaches and that's not all. It also hopes with the Mar Chica project to become an ecological version of the Nice of Morocco. This development project of the Mar Chica lagoon, near the city of Nador, will completely transform the landscape of this region.
This lagoon, which is 25 km long and covers an area of 4,000 ha, is intended to become a seaside resort consisting of a set of seven zones each housing residential complexes, hotels, sports and leisure facilities as well as areas for economic and social activities.
In terms of infrastructure, it has an international airport, the sixth largest in the country, a port (passengers, goods and industrial) which is the second largest in the country, five passenger stations, industrial zones and roads.
The city is the most industrialised zone outside Casablanca-Kenitra and Tangiers, with forty factories including a Swiss cement factory (Holcim).
The city has experienced a spectacular growth in its economy thanks to the many projects in the city (Nador West Med port, the Mar Chica project), and has the highest economic growth rate in the kingdom.
