THE RAMPARTS

The ramparts were built by the Portuguese. They consisted of 5 bastions. One was destroyed during the siege of 1769 by the Portuguese themselves.

They are Bastion of the Holy Spirit, the Bastion of the Angel which offers a panoramic view of the city and the Porte de la Mer, the Bastion Saint-Antoine and the Bastion Saint-Sébastien.

Inside the walls, you can admire the Portuguese city with its houses decorated with pilasters and balconies in ironwork.
