VALLEY OF THE ROSES

The Oued Dades Valley or rather the Valley of the Roses is the tourist nickname of this Eden located in the South-East of Morocco at the foot of the High Atlas between El Kelaa des M'Gouna and Boulmane du Dades.

It is a chain of small villages and traditional earthen houses, whose treasure is hidden in vast fields.

This famous Valley owes its name to the hedges of roses used to protect cultivated fields (cereals, barley, corn, potatoes).

The roses, whose scent invades the Valley everywhere in May a few days before they are picked, produce flowers that are harvested in the atmosphere of an annual tourist moussem.

Extraction of the essence of the rose is done for major perfume companies and rose water is supposedly a miracle remedy for allergies of the eyes.
