THE GREATEST FOSSIL MUSEUM IN THE WORLD
In the south-east of Morocco is the region of Erfoud, which is known for its wealth of fossils, dated from the primary era (around 500 million years BC).
This region, which was once covered by the sea, has now become the must-see site for visitors and researchers of unique fossilised remains of plants and animals that inhabited deep waters during ancient geological times.
This treasure represents a resource of additional income for the local inhabitants who work to cut, sculpture and polish them so they can be sold on as a subsidiary income to their main activity, the production of dates which is emblematic of the region.
